Vacation time: Keeping up with clean eats!

Photo: La Tartine Gourmande
Every time I go on vacation, I put my entire life on hold. I seem to think that just because I’m on vacation, I don’t have to work out or eat somewhat decently. This, my friends, is the completely wrong approach. Just because I am on vacation most certainly doesn’t mean my metabolism is as well. I would always think of eating healthily on vacation as a punishment — or even better, a huge laughable joke — but why? Every place has different foods worthy of getting creative with. Is it hard and troublesome at specific times? OF COURSE IT IS! This week, I am going on a cruise to several different islands, each of which clearly have amazing different types of foods. My challenge for this week is to enjoy myself, but to also know my limits. In the past, I would hit the 24 hour buffet — for 24 hours a day 7 days straight. I wouldn’t work out all vacation and I was bloated and felt disgusting. I also would come home ten pounds heavier and disappointed more than ever that I fell off track and had a major set back after working my butt off to look good for the cruise in the first place. Manicure Monday: Haute Reverse French
For all those I haven’t blabbed to, I’m currently spending the week in Paris! What better way to rock Manicure Monday in France than with a French manicure? You might be saying, Can this chick get over French manicures already? But I’m a huge fan of the French – I think it elongates your nails and is always in style.
This week, I decided to spice it up a bit. The black and white trend is huge right now, and I wanted to take advantage of that with a play on the reverse French manicure – add a bit of glitter and voilà! It’s Paris, after all! Read on to see how I got this “Haute Reverse French” manicure.
Olympus Has Fallen = A Must See
I’m not sure what rock I was successfully living under during the month of March but somehow Olympus Has Fallen completely snuck past my radar. It was not until I was catching up on some of the shows recorded on my DVR that I saw a preview for this film. What I saw was so riveting I had to drag myself out of my apartment to watch it immediately, after all, I didn’t miss the boat so much that I could watch it OnDemand in my pjs 😉 Continue Reading »
Jam Art Factory: Dublin’s Local Art Hotspot

Photo: Dublin Town
While all the tourists were cruising past St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin, my attentions were focused around the corner. Jam Art Factory is a funky indie shop and gallery space that sells photos, toys, paintings, sculptures, handmade cards and postcards — all by local contemporary artists in Ireland. While I highly encourage shopping locally, I found that Jam Art was an excellent place to pick up “anti-souvenirs,” the worldly tokens of my travels that stray far from cheesy magnets.
