This season’s New York Fashion Week featured tons of creative ideas in fashion and beauty alike, and I need to start off The Collabor-eight’s coverage with the Marc Jacobs S/S15 show, which was actually the last official show of NYFW. Somehow, the runway show managed to combine totally natural elements like nearly-barefaced beauty looks and over-the-top accented fashions like glistening silver and gold dresses and military-inspired gowns.
Just when I thought my favorite kicks couldn’t get any cooler, I was walking through Nordstrom and spotted perhaps the coolest Converse All Stars ever, which were crafted with Missoni fabrics. I first heard of beauty brand Jing Ai Cosmetics while watching a beauty event on QVC (yes, I’m totally guilty of spending hours in front of the TV on Tuesday Night Beauty), and I heard great things about the line’s natural, organic ingredients, vegan formulas, and high-intensity color payoff. I was first able to actually give the products a try when the brand’s creator came to an Earth Day event in my town. I never really cared much about my hair until I cut it off. In middle school, I’d throw a few braids or pig tails in and call it a day. When I started high school, I cut bangs. Until my senior year of high school, that was as drastic as I’d gotten with hair changes. Senior year, I decided to cut it off. I went full Victoria Beckham. And then I never wanted to cut my hair again. But this isn’t a story about my hair history. This is a review of FAST Shampoo & Conditioner.
When Benefit announced their new They’re Real Push-Up Liner and said there was an opportunity to buy it before it hit stores, I couldn’t resist. I love makeup, I love makeup that’s supposed to make my life easier, and I loved the idea that it was exclusive. I was totally a victim of their marketing scheme, but it didn’t matter – I wanted They’re Real. And I got it.
Summer is by far my favorite season. There is nothing I love more than relaxing on the beach – I love to put my beach chair right where the surf hits the sand. It’s hot out, but with the water coming up and hitting my feet … there’s just no better feeling. Naturally, I had to create a manicure dedicated to it! I’ve seen a few palm tree manicures floating around Pinterest, so I had to try one myself. The colors, the vibe, everything connects me to the summer season. I have always been and will probably always be openly and unapologetically into cheesy pop music, boy bands, and catchy summer tunes. (Before you boo me and throw rocks at me for being an adult human who is into the lyrical stylings of Demi Lovato, please keep in mind I’m an editor of a tween site. I care about these things!) At my job, I have been introduced to tons of up-and-coming young talent, and there have been a few musical acts that have really stuck with me. UK-based The Vamps are one of those groups. I was already starting to get into their infectious lyrics when they came out with a summer-perfect collab with Demi, titled “Somebody To You.” If you listen to it below, it might just be stuck in your head all summer.
