Manicure Monday: Inspired by Color
As much as I love looking for inspiration on Pinterest, I know that I’m limited in terms of nail art by what I can actually do and what tools I have at home. It’s more important for me to have a simple-yet-neat design than an intricate-but-possibly-sloppy design. Sometimes when I’m trying to figure out what my next manicure will be, I just stare at my nail polish collection for a bit until something (hopefully) comes to me. Inspired by color! That’s how I figured out what to do for this week’s Manicure Monday! Read on to see what I came up with this week.

Bunheads
I’ve wanted to talk about ABC Family’s Bunheads since the pilot episode. In the first ten minutes of the premiere, a strict looking ballet teacher goes up and down aisles of barres, inspecting her students and stops to tap her cane on the non-existent (outside of the world of ballet) backside of the beautiful dancer we will come to love as Boo. Thirteen years of being a slightly-too-curvy “bunhead” myself made me cringe, but I was immediately hooked. The show doesn’t really have any spoilers beyond the pilot episode’s dramatic ending, so read on to hear what I think. And if I’m losing you here, go catch up on a few episodes and check back later! Free download: Dijon Talton, ‘Wild Out’
If you ever watched the first season of the musical television show Glee, you may recognize Dijon Talton from his role as glee club member Matt Rutherford. From the looks of it, Talton has managed to keep himself nice and busy since his time on the show by working on two movies (indie drama I Will Follow, horror comedy Chastity Bites) and his debut LP. He’s given us a taste of his new project with the release of his first single earlier this week. “Wild Out,” an R&B/pop track, has a dope beat and the kind of melody that will get stuck in your head.

Manicure Monday: Nicki Minaj for OPI
As much as we all love nail art, sometimes it’s important to let the polish shine. Nicki Minaj’s OPI collection is quite possibly my favorite nail polish collection, color-wise, of all time. That’s not even an exaggeration. The range of color is so big, but they all manage to work well together at the same time. This collection is loud – the colors really speak for themselves. Nail art?
