True Girl Naturally Clear Pineapple Blast Zit Zapper, ($16)
Color me skeptical, but I really didn’t anything called a “zit zapper” would do anything for my skin. Same goes for blemish bashers — something about the alliterative quality of these catchy terms just makes them feel a whole lot less medical, and a lot more gross.
Since I’m a sucker for excellent skincare, I decided to give this product a go — read on to see how I fared!
I was actually really impressed with how quickly this product dried out any pimples I had — and even prevented emerging zits from becomes a major problem. I am happy to report that this clear gel seals over your acne and helps heal it practically overnight.
Though the TrueGirl range is targeted for teens and tweens, it’s still successful on adult skin. I imagine that if it can tackle the major acne problems girls face as teens, it can deal with a stray pimple here and there just as effectively.
One blaring negative is that I hate the smell of the product. I was expecting the pineapple scent to be really fresh and fruity like a smoothie or something, and it’s decidedly NOT. However, the product works well enough that I’m willing to sacrifice the stale smell for clear skin. As a side note, I’ve sampled other things from the True Girl collection — like the scrub and wonderful moisturizer — and they all have the fruity smells that I was anticipating, so either this one’s a dud or pineapple’s just not as naturally fragrant as I had hoped.
