Bold, graphic prints are definitely having their moment. Whether you wear them on your cropped pants, bathing suits, or effortless mini dresses, globally-inspired prints will have you on-trend for summer. Megastar designer Derek Lam is bringing his powerful, feminine garments to the DesigNation collection for Kohl’s — and giving you new ways to wear fun prints! This cool collection is already online, and it launches in stores on April 5. Here’s what you need to know about the collection before you shop!

Breezy and relaxed, the pieces of Derek Lam’s highly anticipated new collection for Kohl’s are inspired by the gorgeous city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. They’re bold enough to reflect the city’s colorful atmosphere, but light enough for keeping cool in the blazing heat!

This collection manages to mix bright and muted colors to make a powerful and soft palette. I love how a lot of the pieces feel like adapted workwear: as in, you went to work in your silky collared shirt, and you had to roll up your sleeves and unbutton a few buttons by your lunch hour in the midday sun!

The too-hot collection will feature a nearly endless selection of tops, dresses, pants, skirts, shoes, handbags, and accessories. Each of the pieces are mix-and-matchable so you can create casual, beachy looks or really sophisticated evening wear. With simple shoe swapping or accessory adding, you can take these looks from casual to full out glam.

Want to win a piece from the collection? Head over to the Kohl’s Facebook page to play the beach-to-city game! Best of luck, fashionistas!

  1. I went to the store to check out this collection and they didn’t have those silky shorts, which made me mad because it was the piece I was most excited about. I ended up buying the multicolored pants, they’re like the blue ones on top pic but like you can wear them all year pretty much.
