This week’s Manicure Monday is brought to you once again by Pretty & Polished! I’m still on the whole homemade nail polish kick – I’m actually considering making my own personal polish! We’ll see where that goes. Regardless, I think finding a polish like this can be nail art in itself! This isn’t an Orly or OPI color that anyone might have – it’s a polish imagined and created by a person who loves nail polish just as much as you do!
For my manicure this week, I’m sporting Pretty & Polished’s Island of Misfit Toys over Essie’s Ballet Slippers. I chose Ballet Slippers, a very pale nude pink, because I wanted the glitter to be the star of this look. Island of Misfit Toys is a clear base filled with glitter of different sizes, shapes, and colors. It’s honestly unlike any other glitter polish you’ve seen before! I think it’s so fun and perfect for the holidays.
In the image to the left, I have three coats of Island of Misfit Toys. The glitter isn’t too concentrated, but I kind of like that – it makes it buildable. You can swipe on one coat for a subtle effect or try a few more coats for a more stand-out look.
Manicure tip: Glitter tends to sink to the bottom of the bottle when sitting on your shelf. To get more of a concentration of glitter in your polish, hold the bottle upside down for a minute or so before applying it. This helps the glitter to move towards the top of the bottle and attach easier to the brush!
I’m so happy that this is called Island of Misfit Toys because, to me, the misfit toys = Christmas.
Great manicure and an even greatly polish name. The misfit toys are the best!
