New York Fashion Week Beauty: Backstage at Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2013

We’re predicting that delicate mint green is going to be the “it” color of the Spring 2013 fashion season. This chilly hue is already heating up the beauty world: at least according to what we saw at the Rebecca Minkoff Spring/Summer 2013 runway show. Makeup by Stila Cosmetics and manicures by Essie were popped with coordinating crisp mint shades. We’ve got your VIP all-access pass behind the scenes of this Fashion Week event. Check it out!

Stila Makeup Artist and Global Creative Director Sarah Lucero told us all about the upcoming Spring launch of the newest shade of the Stila Smudge Stick. This topaz-inspired shade was used to line the inner corners of the models’ eyes. The entire makeup look had an Arizona desert vibe: terracotta cheeks and balmy lips were complimented with the pop of color.

The cool manicure seen on all the models was created by the Essie nail team using the appropriately named shade “Icebox.” I love when edgy solid nail colors are interesting enough that you don’t have to get crazy with the nail art to make them stand out. As soon as I got home after this show, I painted my nails a similar mint shade because I loved this look so much. I have a feeling that girls everywhere will be clamoring to get in on the universally flattering cool-girl trend. It’s a pop of color that will look good with any outfit but not be boring.

The minty pastels and deep terracotta shades weren’t limited to just the models’ makeup looks! Rebecca Minkoff is known for her amazing handbags, and her color inspiration translated directly into her products. I’m already mentally shopping these adorable bags! The colors make them fresh for spring, but they’re not so wacky that they’ll look tacky after the season.

Rebecca Minkoff shows off her Spring 2013 collection backstage

Rebecca Minkoff  was embracing the pop of color style herself during her backstage interviews! I could see her from across the tents with these bright sneakers. I love how laid back and chill she is, even right before what must have been a really stressful show. Here, you can see the model lineup for each outfit. Somehow the colors of the clothes managed to be both highly pigmented brights and soft pastels. Must just be because she’s a genius, yes?
