I’m always looking for manicure inspiration everywhere I go. Sometimes I get inspired by a piece of clothing I own, sometimes I get inspired by a holiday or what’s on TV – and sometimes I just get inspired by the nail polish and nail art tools I have sitting in my room. This manicure was inspired by the latter. I had nail art pearls leftover from a previous Nail Art Society kit and I really wanted to use them. What I came up with was flowers, a French manicure, and some pearl details – a few of my favorite things!

My little sister recently took a trip to South Korea, so naturally, when she asked what souvenir I wanted, I said nail polish. She came back with the eight beauties, plus some fun nail art studs. Obviously, I couldn’t wait to get started! A black and white glitter polish really caught my eye – it’s a translucent polish filled with different sizes and shapes of black and white glitter flecks. Manicure Monday: Back to Design
I wanted to thank everyone for the kind words I’ve been receiving about starting up my weekly Manicure Monday posts again. For those that don’t know, I’m coming out of quite a busy period in my life. I was applying to new jobs, helping to plan my sister’s wedding, and moving to a totally different area all at once. Unfortunately, manicures completely fell off my to-do list, so manicure tutorials weren’t happening. I actually went about a month and a half without polishing my nails at all – it killed me. Now that I’m settled in at my new apartment and my new job, I can finally start my manicures back up again! It’s making me feel more like myself – but to hear from other people that it makes them happy to see my tutorials again? There’s really no better feeling. This manicure is for all the kind words I’ve received – I’m going back to design with this week’s manicure tutorial!
Manicure Monday: More than Glitter
Sprucing up a basic manicure is simple – just add a glittery accent nail! Whether it’s because I’m too lazy to decorate every nail or because I don’t like to over-complicate things, I’m a big fan of the accent nail. It helps to elevate your manicure without going overboard – and without spending hours to get your look. This week, I took my glittery accent nail to another level … with sequins!

I can’t think of a new movie release that I’m more excited about than the upcoming Disney film, Maleficent. The spooky live-action film will re-imagine the iconic villain of one of my favorite animated films, Sleeping Beauty. Manicure Monday: Glitz & Glam
And we’re back! I’ve hardly had time to slap some clear polish on my nails in the past few months, let alone create a manicure worthy of a Manicure Monday blog post. Between finding a new job, moving, and planning my sister’s wedding, it’s been a crazy couple of months. But I did it – I’ve settled in and I finally got the chance to give myself a mani (and pedi!) – and I’m feeling a bit more like myself now.

The above is an actual transcript of a phone conversation I had the night I first tried products from The Gnarly Whale. In my line of work, I’ve been lucky enough to have had access to wonderful fashion and beauty products for years, and I love testing things out and finding new favorite products to obsess over. But let me tell you, it’s been a long time since I found a product so buzzworthy that I actually made a phone call about it. There are so many reasons that I loved Gnarly Whale before I ever even opened the products: the hipster name, the fact that the products are all vegan, and the cool product range consisting of everything from spray shampoo to lip balm to bar soap to beach wave hair spray.
