There are so very few things about couture that makes anything feel relatable, wearable, or accessible. That’s what makes it couture. Artistic, innovative, and out of reach. So whenever I see something that is undeniably couture and as luxurious as it gets, but still looks like something you could rock in real life? Well, that’s just golden, isn’t it? My first thought upon seeing the makeup for the Bouchra Jarrar Couture show was, wow. My second thought was, wow, that actually looks like something I would want to wear in real life. If you love the look as much as I do, read on for the full product breakdown, straight from the NARS backstage team.
“We achieved a minimal look using complexion products and a halo effect fo the eye. The collection boasts neutral tones, so we did the same for the makeup and focused on flawless, satiny, translucent skin,” says NARS Lead Makeup Artist Christophe Danchaud. Flawless, glowing skin is indeed the star of this fresh-faced beauty look.
Every great skin look starts with light moisturization! To prep the models’ skin for the show, the NARS team used NARSskin Aqua Gel Luminous Oil-Free Moisturizer, NARSskin Optimal Brightening Concentrate and the Pro-Prime Light Optimizing Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 15.
Then, NARS went all out showcasing a lot of their new Fall 2013 product offerings. Brand spankin’ new Radiant Cream Compact Foundation was used to give the girls flawless skin with a dewey finish. If you want to try out the look right now, NARS recommends using their current Sheer Glow formula. The Radiant Creamy Concealer covered up any blemishes, when the loose Light Reflecting Setting Powder was dusted on to keep the look fresh throughout the show.
The two sultry eyeshadow shades used to sculpt these barely-there smokey eyes were Namibia Single Eyeshadow (current offering equivalent: Lhasa) and Kamchatka Single Eyeshadow (current offering equivalent: China Moon). Both colors are due out over the late summer. Lips are polished off with the equally lightweight Isola Bella Satin Lip Pencil. [NARS press release]
