So You Think You Can Dance: ‘Top 10 Perform’ Music Highlights

Before I begin my mini recap of this week’s music from So You Think You Can Dance, I apologize for my lateness – my birthday was yesterday and it turned out to be much more busy and eventful than I thought it would be. But enough about me! Wednesday’s episode brought back the all-stars, who are various contestants from previous seasons, to be partnered up with the top 10. Some of my favorite dancers from way back when performed and it was very fun to watch. Check out videos of the performances and listen to and download some music after the jump!

Cobra Starship, “You Make Me Feel” ft. Sabi (Disco Fries Remix)
While their name might make you want to drive to your local New Jersey diner, Disco Fries is actually a production duo that makes funky electro remixes of top 40 songs. This Cobra Starship song gets a whole lot of airplay on the radio but Disco Fries brings their own spin on it to make it new for your ears. Listen and download their other mixes on SoundCloud.

Used in: Doriana Sanchez’s disco routine with contestant Tiffany and Brandon (season 5 all-star)

Moloko, “Sing It Back”
(8/26/12: Correction from original post) Moloko was a duo made up of Róisín Murphy and Mark Brydon. The most widely known version of “Sing It Back” is actually a remix of the original, known as the “Boris Musical Mix.” Travis Wall did an excellent job in taking this song and giving it a different life through his choreography.

Used in: Travis Wall’s jazz routine with contestant Witney and Nick (season 1 all-star)

Nancy Sinatra, “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)”
This song has a compelling, dramatic sound so it’s no wonder that it contributed to one of the best performances of the night. If you’re interested, take a listen to the remix by Audio Bullys here.

Used in: Stacey Tookey’s contemporary routine with contestant Eliana and Alex (season 7 all-star)

Thanks for reading and listening! Tune in next week for more!

About Camille G.

Camille's passion for music began at the advent of the very illegal Napster, which she maaay or may not have used at the time. This interest made a natural progression into learning and teaching herself how to play various instruments for fun. Due to a lack of actual talent and the desire for job predictability, she graduated from Seton Hall University in nursing. When she has time off from her job as a registered nurse in NJ, she enjoys digging through the internet for new things to listen to. Sharing her discoveries and favorite songs with friends through mix CDs, playlists, blogs, and parties is the part of the music experience she enjoys the most, so this is a great opportunity for her to do just that.
