So You Think You Can Dance: ‘Top 20 Perform, Part 2’ Music Highlights

The top 20 was at it again last night! The contestants are really delivering this season so it’s going to be incredibly challenging when it comes down to the finals. Let’s take a look at the music:

Timbaland, “Hands in the Air” ft. Ne-Yo

Remember when Timbaland dominated the airwaves? He’s back again with a new single that’s going to be featured in the new movie Step Up Revolution. “Hands in the Air” definitely has that Timbaland production sound, but he keeps it current with some electronic music-inspired synth chords in the chorus. This song has the potential to be radio hit.

Aatish Kapadia, “Tandav Music”

I’m not sure if most people know this about me, but I really enjoy bhangra and filmi music. I love that the genres are so engaging for the listener. Anyway, this song is from a Hindi movie called Waqt: The Race Against Time (please note that the visual for the video below is not from said movie). As with most Indian music in general, this song percussion-driven, which makes it quite dramatic and intense.

Lady Gaga, “Teeth”

“Teeth” isn’t new by any means, but I forgot how good it was and figured the rest of you needed reminding. This track is from The Fame Monster EP, which was released back in 2009. The pounding bass drum and Gaga’s growling vocals get you totally caught up in the song.

About Camille G.

Camille's passion for music began at the advent of the very illegal Napster, which she maaay or may not have used at the time. This interest made a natural progression into learning and teaching herself how to play various instruments for fun. Due to a lack of actual talent and the desire for job predictability, she graduated from Seton Hall University in nursing. When she has time off from her job as a registered nurse in NJ, she enjoys digging through the internet for new things to listen to. Sharing her discoveries and favorite songs with friends through mix CDs, playlists, blogs, and parties is the part of the music experience she enjoys the most, so this is a great opportunity for her to do just that.
