Manicure Monday: Girly Girl

This week’s Manicure Monday features my Senior Dinner Dance polish look.  I wore a long, black mermaid-style dress with silver jewelry.  I’ve worn that dress twice before and kept the look simple with a classic French manicure.  I wanted to keep the look classy and elegant, but I felt like I needed a pop of color.  And what would be better to add a splash of color than Nicki Minaj’s OPI line?

Typically, I like to do funkier patterns on my nails, especially when I’m going to blog about them.  Unfortunately, not every situation calls for extravagant nail art.  Sometimes it’s better to keep it simple, and that’s what I did here.

  1. Sally Hansen Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat
  2. Nicki Minaj for OPI’s Pink Friday
  3. Nicki Minaj for OPI’s Save Me
  4. Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat

It’s important for me when I’m keeping my manicure simple to make sure my nails are perfect.  I’m always sure to file and buff my nails really well beforehand because it gives you the perfect base for a simple manicure.  Ridges and mistakes can be hidden by nail art, but if you’re only doing a simple color, it’s more difficult to hide.

Start with a strengthening base coat because – let’s face it – your nails can take a beating.  Two coats of my base color, Pink Friday, followed by one coat of my glitter Save Me on my accent nail.  Finish with a top coat and voila!

What are you doing for Manicure Monday this week?  Do you prefer simple manis or fun nail art?
