There’s a new pizza spot in New Jersey, and you know that means that I had to make the journey to scope the place out. There simply cannot be a crispy grandma slice in my state that I haven’t sampled, so it was the first thing I ordered when I reached Pie Guys Pizza‘s counter. It didn’t even take me until the first bite to realize it was a work of art.

The owners of Pie Guys are two young guys who are trying to make the pizza business hip and fun, and they’re definitely making that happen. Everything from the store’s quirky pizza guy logo, the stylish and engaging menu, and the artisinally crafted pies is fresh and cool.

The shop has great prices for really high-quality stuff (they make the kind of gourmet slices that would run you quite the luxe price tag if you bought them in NYC) and the menu’s pretty expansive for a place that only opened up about 3 months ago. They’ve got a lot of by-the-slice options, like an Old World Pizza with Vodka sauce, vegan veggie blend Fresca, and even a Philly cheesesteak version. Of course there are other options like salads, wraps, and sandwiches, but I’ll need to wait until my next trip up to North Jersey to try those out!

The grandma slice I dug into was packed with flavor: rich marinara sauce, bold garlic, and a crisp thin crust. My family brought a few other slices home but they disappeared before I was even able to go back for seconds, so that is the ultimate tastiness review.
