One of the things that makes me feel better about leaving the beautiful summer sun behind and transitioning into fall is fashion. I love summer because there’s nowhere else I’d rather be than prancing around the Jersey shore in a bikini and cute cover-up, but there’s something about the tights, the boots, and the knits that come out in fall that make me feel so cozy and stylish at the same time.
Move over, neons – this fall is all about muted tones. Pantone, the global authority on color, chose these colors as the colors of the season:
So many of this season’s colors are reflective of nature. Deep Lichen Green, Samba, Koi, Linden Green, and Carafe are all reflective of the changing leaves. Deep greens, blues, grays, and purples are almost neutral. Mix and match or wear one head-to-toe.
These neutrals can be beautifully incorporated into your beauty routine. Create a bold lip look with Samba, Koi, or Vivacious. Yves Saint Laurent’s Vernis A Levres Glossy Stain is my new favorite lip product for lasting color. Pair it with a neutral eye in a Deep Lichen Green or Turbulence shade.
Prefer to play up your eyes? Try making them pop with Emerald, Mykonos Blue, or Acai. Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil comes in each of these beautiful shades and has the perfect pigmentation to get the look.
The best thing about these colors is how well they all work together. This Kelly Wearstler look (right) is the perfect example of combining colors and patterns that just work. I love how easy Pantone makes it – they give you the perfect color palette that will be on trend for your outfit, your makeup and, of course, your manicure.
Any of these colors would look great on their own for a basic manicure, or mixed together to create fun nail art. You all know I’ll be working these colors into upcoming Manicure Mondays. Essie’s new fall 2013 collection features half of these colors, anyway!
How do you plan on working the colors of the season into your fall fashion?
