Happy official summer! In honor of the new season, we have a 10 song playlist for all of you to download. For me, summer = making memories = music that goes along with those memories. If I’m doing something cool, I want to be listening to something cool. Check out songs from artists like Haim, Phoenix, Martin Solveig, and more:

1) Haim, “Falling”
My favorite release from indie band Haim. When the beat kicks in, you can’t help but dance (they would agree).

2) Screaming Maldini, “Summer, Somewhere”
We featured Screaming Maldini a little while ago and here they are again with “Summer, Somewhere.” If you didn’t check it out the first time I told you, you’re missing out.

3) Phoenix, “Trying to Be Cool” (Breakbot Remix)
French DJ Breakbot brings some awesome electro funk and disco to this remix of Phoenix’s second single from their latest album Bankrupt!

4) Crystal Fighters, “LA Calling”
The band manages to fuse Basque and modern electronic music together to create a sound like no other. “LA Calling” grabs you with a great intro and a booming hook.

5) Martin Solveig & The Cataracs, “Hey Now” ft. Kyle
Electro house DJ Martin Solveig is back with another collaboration, but this time with The Cataracs and a rapper by the name of Kyle.

6) Disclosure, “Latch” ft. Sam Smith
I still can’t get enough of Disclosure. The brothers’ fantastic, just-released debut album picked up a staggering 9.1 rating on Pitchfork.

7) Lorde, “Royals”
At only 16 years old, Ella Yelich-O’Connor aka Lorde is among the many talented youngins in the music scene right now. “Royals” hit #1 in her home country of New Zealand.

8) The Knocks, “Modern Hearts” ft. St. Lucia
The Knocks are probably best known for their cover of “Midnight City” by M83. They haven’t released an original single in about 2 years so “Modern Hearts” marks a much anticipated return.

9) Snakehips, “On & On” (Snakehips Edit)
Snakehips released “On & On” a little less than a month ago but they already have an edit for their own song. Australian (but London-based) singer George Maple is behind the addictive voice featured on this futuristic soul track.

10) Miguel, “Adorn” (Star Slinger Remix)
The slow and smooth “Adorn” is among my all-time favorites for this year. It got the remix treatment by Star Slinger, who adds in a lot of summer flavor.

Download the playlist here. Let us know what you think below and share your favorite jams for this summer!

About Camille G.

Camille's passion for music began at the advent of the very illegal Napster, which she maaay or may not have used at the time. This interest made a natural progression into learning and teaching herself how to play various instruments for fun. Due to a lack of actual talent and the desire for job predictability, she graduated from Seton Hall University in nursing. When she has time off from her job as a registered nurse in NJ, she enjoys digging through the internet for new things to listen to. Sharing her discoveries and favorite songs with friends through mix CDs, playlists, blogs, and parties is the part of the music experience she enjoys the most, so this is a great opportunity for her to do just that.
