A Beauty Review: Neutrogena® Cosmetics

Neutrogena® CosmeticsAs a BzzAgent, I get to try new products in exchange for my reviews and opinions! For this BzzCampaign, I’ve been tasked with testing out Neutrogena® Cosmetics. Their new cosmetics line includes MoistureSmooth Color Sticks, Healthy Lengths Mascara, and Crease Proof Eye Shadows.  Neutrogena® Cosmetics dub themselves “beautiful, wearable color that’s good for your skin.” We’ve reviewed Neutrogena® Cosmetics before – now let’s see if they stand up to the test again.

Neutrogena® MoistureSmooth Color Sticks are said to provide “sheer, shiny color that leaves lips feeling continuously conditioned.” It comes in eight sheer shades, including Juicy Peach, Fresh Papaya, Sweet Watermelon, Bright Berry, Warm Caramel, Soft Raspberry, Perfect Plum, and Rich Raisin.  I received Sweet Watermelon to try.  What I immediately loved before trying it on was that the packaging twists up, so you don’t need a sharpener – perfect, because I don’t think I could find a sharpener this chunky anyway. It even smells like a sweet watermelon.

After applying the Neutrogena® MoistureSmooth Color Sticks, it’s clear that these are definitely sheer. If you’re looking for bold color, look elsewhere. But if you’re looking for a bit of brightening or more of a natural look, you’ll definitely want to try these out. They swipe on so smooth, probably because of the mango and shea butter in the formula.  They feel very moisturizing – not a goopy gloss, but not a dry lipstick.  It’s not a gloss, it’s not a lipstick, and it’s not a stain. But whatever it is, I like it.

Neutrogena® claims that the formula in their Healthy Lengths Mascara “instantly makes lashes look 100% longer while conditioning and strengthening over time.” I don’t know if it’s necessarily 100%, but this mascara definitely lengthens.  Plus, the formula contains Vitamin E and olive oil, so you know it’s good for your lashes.  It comes in Carbon Black, Black, and Black/Brown – I received the Black to try.

The Neutrogena® Healthy Lengths Mascara is ophthalmologist tested, so it’s safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. As a girl who wears contacts every day, I can appreciate that.  There is nothing worse than a mascara that makes your lashes look amazing but crumbles into your eyes and under your contacts like sand.  I’m actually a big fan of this mascara.  It gives you the perfect wearing-makeup-but-still-natural look.

Neutrogena® Crease Proof Eye Shadows come in six shades – Stay Golden, Forever Platinum, Perfect Pink, Constant Copper, Lasting Taupe, and Stay-Put Plum. I received Constant Copper and Lasting Taupe to test.  As the name declares, these shadows contain a built-in primer that prevents smudging, creasing and fading for 12 hours.

Lasting Taupe is a light brown, almost metallic shade.  Constant Copper is a pink, champagne shade. Tested on my hand, these shadows look a little dry.  And a little overly metallic – I wouldn’t think they’re very good for a natural look. And then I tried to smudge it off my hand – and it wouldn’t budge. I couldn’t smudge it with my fingers and hard as I tried – and then I realized, This eye shadow won’t crease. I had to try it.

The next day I woke up and realized the shadow was still on my hand. It stayed perfectly on my hand overnight.  When I got in the shower, I tried to wipe it off.  It didn’t budge.  I actually had to scrub this eye shadow off my hands.  This shadow actually won’t go anywhere.  The good news? It comes off easily with eye makeup remover, so when you want it off, it will come off – but not until then. Now if only someone can make an eyeliner like that!

Neutrogena® Cosmetics has a new fan here.  They look natural and do what they claim to do.  Since I started testing out these products, I’ve actually swapped them into my daily routine and have been using them ever since! If that doesn’t tell you how much I like them, I don’t know what will.
